Music Of SvabhavA started with an idea to create an ambient style of music that encompassed a love for Eastern Mysticism and the instruments and singing involved in the music from Eastern cultures. In particular the meditative and contemplative nature of the “drone” qualities created from these instruments and singing .
As the sound meditation performance of “ShaamaahS” developed ... A realization that there was more room to grow with this style of “ambient/drone” approach to performing. This lead to creating a backdrop involving Synth Soundscapes, Himalayan Singing Bowls, Tuvan Throat Singing, and Percussion.
This is also where the quest to find a Minneapolis Sitar player began. As a friend and mentor Rain Gray said ... “just put the thought out there, and see what happens”. That may seem very cliche, but one must realize ... Intent and desire is the fundamental starting point for any passion or adventure!
Lo and behold the absolute perfect person for this project showed up ... His name is Mark Ilaug. Mark has been playing Sitar for almost 20 years. The beautiful thing about this collaboration is the fact that both Mark and myself spent our entire adult lives in the Minneapolis music scene playing clubs, and putting the work in to hone our musical craft. The music of SvabhavA is simply our expression of a multi faceted love for creating music.
The Music Of SvabhavA is meant to be a music for everybody. In a time where music truly is needed the most.
